Home My Course Parents About
Meet the Teacher Mr. Elliott Hello! My name is Mr. Elliott and I am teaching mathematics and computer science in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado for Grades 7-12 again this school year. This will be my third school year in Cheyenne Wells.

Over the last 15 years, I have taught and tutored middle school, high school, and junior college students in math, computer science, and music courses, teaching mostly on the Eastern Plains in Colorado. I enjoy working in small school districts because it affords me the opportunity to get to know my students and their families better than living and working in a large city.

I grew up in the Midwest, mostly rural Iowa. I earned my degree in Computer Science from Northwest Missouri State University and worked as a computer programmer for several years in Kansas City, Missouri before deciding to transition into teaching full-time. On a trip to Colorado in 2006, I fell in love with the rugged beauty of the San Luis Valley and the Collegiate Peaks Region. I completed the Alternative Certification Program in Limon, Colorado with the ECBOCES during the 2008-2009 school year. Teaching has proven to be an incredibly rewarding career!

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, nature photography, camping, playing the piano and guitar, developing websites, and visiting my family in Nebraska and Oklahoma. I have hiked and biked over 10,000 miles since moving to Colorado over a decade ago.

Two of my current life goals are to visit 50 state and provincial high points in the United States and Canada and to visit 50 National Parks (they do keep adding more all the time). I have completed 28 high points and 26 National Parks so far! ♦

Memoji I believe...
every student is capable of learning and achieving success

strong, healthy relationships underpin genuine learning

creating a culture of kindness and opportunity
affords students a safe place to explore and grow

robust skill-based foundations of knowledge must be accompanied
by comprehensive conceptual understanding

creating lessons that are applicable to real-life is crucial
to ensuring that education is effective and substantive

becoming a life-long learner must be a critical goal of education

high standards and accountability must be maintained in and through all things

specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-sensitive
goals must be set, attended to, and realized

continuous self-reflection and assessment are essential
to becoming the best I can be
